IVF Journey So Far

The road that took us here and the road ahead in IVF...

  • 2011 - We got married. DH and I knew we wanted to start a family right away. We started trying without telling anyone. Six long months later, we decided to see my primary physician. She recommended for us to see an OB specializing in infertility. (Unfortunately, all that OB did was send me to get 10+ ultrasounds for about a year. )
  • 2012 - DH and I went to get a second opinion with another OB who specialize in infertility as well. The OB we saw said that I have severe endometriosis. As a result, I had a laparoscopy (a surgery performed with a laparoscope inserted in the abdomen (with an incision) to treat endometriosis, a condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus grows elsewhere. In my case, the tissue attached itself to the left ovary). During the year that I saw this OB, she also recommended me to go on Lupron (an injectable I had to take once every 3 months to suppress the endometriosis).
  • 2013 - We went to an IVF Specialist. I had a hysteroscopy (a procedure where the Dr uses the hysteroscope to scrape the lining of the uterus. It also done to remove any polyps or fibroids).
    • April/May - IVF Cycle #1: Antagonist Protocol: Gonal-F 300, Menopur 150, Ganirelix, HCG (Navarel), Prenatal, Baby Aspirin - BFN
    • June/July - IVF Cycle #2: Antagonist Protocol:  Gonal-F 300, Menopur 150, Ganirelix, HCG (Navarel), Prenatal, Baby Aspirin, Dexamethasone - BFN
    • August - IVF Cycle #3: Frozen Embryo Transfer: HCG, Prenatal, Baby Aspirin
    • December - IVF Cycle #4: Frozen Embryo Transfer: Prenatab, Estrace/Estradiol, Endometrin.
